Nearby Attractions

Somers
Supermart in the town and a convenience store “Ample Hamper” mean that
replenishments are never far away of your larder needs to be topped up.
The St. George’s Club Resort nearby has tennis courts that can be
rented, and a restaurant and bar to enjoy.

There are buses leaving
from the town centre regularly heading into the capital city of
Hamilton and to St. David’s (Clearwater Beach). A shuttle service
operates as well out to St. David’s and into St. George’s…but it’s a
pretty walk into the town and won’t take long, unless you stop to admire
all the flowers and the charming gardens on your way down the hill…

Snorkeling
and swimming at nearby beaches including some dazzling rarely visited
ones located past Clearwater beach and the old NASA Station. Exploring
these will keep you absorbed and fascinated for hours.

The former
capital of Bermuda, the Town of St. George’s is just a 10 minute moped
ride away, but will take you back nearly 400 years to 1612. The town is
the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the English New World.
The extraordinary atmosphere of the town is captured not in its
gentrification but in the fact the folks live in these ancient buildings
today and that the ongoing matter of everyday business has somehow been
managed within the confines of a pretty town with winding roads and
oddly shaped buildings perched curbside.

Its history embraces many
roles: a thriving frontier town, military and naval outpost and
colonial capital to name but a few. Crammed now with pretty shops and
attractive cafes, it is centered on a beautiful waterfront square, with
museums and galleries just steps away, including a replica of the
Deliverance. This tiny ship bore the early settlers on to Jamestown,
Virginia after a year of collecting food and ship building to escape the
island they were shipwrecked upon. There is a fine park behind the
town, gardens and churches to explore and dazzling beaches in the area.

Buses
run into Hamilton and beyond, and there is a ferry service into
Hamilton as well. As the island is only 22 miles long, even at the
sedate pace of 14 to 20 miles an hour, you can explore the entire island
comfortably from your taxi, on the mopeds or by public transportation
which includes excellent bus service, ferry service into Hamilton and a
shuttle service which will take you around St. George’s. Bus / ferry
passes are obtained by stopping off at the post office on your way to
the house.

Locking up is the same prudent exercise in Bermuda as
it is when you leave your home- close the windows and leave the unit
secure please. Local calls are included – a Bermudian calling card is
necessary to make long distance calls. It is customary to leave a
gratuity for the maid.

A boat rental will permit you to explore
the wonderful collection of islands, bird sanctuaries, old forts and
spectacular beaches that are situated in the Castle Harbour area. You
can drift down the coast and admire the palaces of Tucker’s Town where
the elite from around the world have built their luxurious hideaways.
With a picnic and a case of cool drinks, this could be the happiest day
of your vacation.

So many highlights in your area to take
advantage of; explore beaches & walkways (Clearwater Beach, Whale
Bone Bay, John Smith’s Bay, Castle Island), Golf & Tennis (Ocean
View Golf, Tucker’s Point, Grotto Bay), Spas (Gillian’s Spa, Inner
Sanctum, Tranquil Salon), and dozens of culinary delights (Black Horse,
Blackbeard’s, Swizzle Inn, Tom Moore’s Tavern).
